Working closely with partner organisations
Referrals are mostly coordinated directly with organisations or services that work with people who may benefit from Common Wheel activities. Because funding and availability may change over time, the referral routes for each project might differ slightly.
At present, Common Wheel’s priority is working with other services and building collaborations to reach adults who might not access community activities alone. We are especially keen to hear from NHS partners and charities supporting people in Glasgow who are often excluded from other spaces.
Our projects
Each of our projects has a slightly different referral process, so please always check the relevant project page.
Build Your Own Bike
Our original flagship programme. Participants pick a bike from our collection, take it apart, rebuild it with new parts and keep it at the end!
Music Workshops
Our interactive music activities are led by our wonderful team of professional musicians and are suitable for all skill levels, regardless of experience.
Climbing Sessions
Our climbing activity is suitable for all levels of fitness and experience. Within the group, people are able to progress at their own pace in a welcoming atmosphere.
Visual Arts
Our Visual Arts project gives adults a chance to create together in a relaxed group. Anyone can take part, no experience is needed.
Inpatients: Services for mental health wards
Common Wheel has a long history of delivering music activities in many adult mental health wards across Glasgow. Sessions are available in a range of hospitals, depending on staff capacity, funding, and ward needs.
Hospital staff interested in bringing these sessions to their ward should use the enquiry form on the Music page to discuss with the lead project contact.
Meaningful Activity Matters.
We want more people to have the chance to benefit from meaningful activity. By working together with referrers, we can welcome people who will most benefit from our projects. Our staff are happy to answer questions, share current group information, and explore partnership working with you. Please check individual project pages for the most accurate referral details or get in touch to discuss how your organisation can work with Common Wheel.
