Sam Calvert
Chair
Sam is the Chief Revenue Officer for GoFibre, a Scottish independent broadband provider and network builder. Originally from New Zealand, Sam is an experienced strategic marketing, technology and commercial leader in telecommunications businesses. He’s a fair-weather hillwalker, cyclist, runner and Chief Scritching Officer for retired racing greyhound, Flo.

Grant Urquhart
Grant is a retired Consultant Radiologist. He was a dedicated cycle commuter and retains an enthusiasm for all forms of leisure cycling as well as bicycles old and new. He is married to a retired consultant psychiatrist.

Joyce Lythgoe
Treasurer
Joyce is a retired director of health economics. She enjoys the outdoors, particularly hill walking and cycling. She retains a keen interest in economics and medical matters.

Phil McCafferty
Phil is an architect. He specialises in community-focussed regeneration with an emphasis on ecological solutions – reducing waste, more re-use and less consumption of resources. His interests include arts and culture, economic empowerment and the alleviation of poverty, health, and human rights. He is also a keen cyclist.

Rebecca Osborne

Rebecca is a practising solicitor in the field of criminal law. In her spare time Rebecca enjoys spending time with her young family and playing sport, particularly hockey.

Rachel McMillan
Rachel is a Psychology graduate and enjoys research. She also has a background in music. In her spare time Rachel entertains her cats and participates in falconry.

Poppy Elliards
Poppy is the National Volunteer Coordinator for a Scottish charity, with a focus on communications and volunteer engagement. Poppy enjoys exploring the outdoors in her campervan with her dogs, cycling, going to gigs, and hillwalking.

Arvind Salwan
Arvind brings a huge amount of experience to the board including: serving on the Dementia UK Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP), being a member of both the Dementia Services Development Centre Lived Experience Panel and Age Scotland’s Dementia Lived Experience Forum, acting as a Mentor with The King’s Trust, and contributing over ten years of experience on Scottish Parliament Cross Party Groups. Arvind is also the founder of Dementia Heroes and currently serves as Chair of The Unity Foundation

Stephen Halferty
Stephen has spent 30 years in purpose-led retail, with 14 of these working in Europe & Australia. He’s got a passion for developing new businesses and bringing that experience to support Common Wheel’s work. When he’s not working, Stephen’s all about family time, motorbikes and music – whether he’s listening or playing.
